THE ARTIST BEHIND THE COLOUR

Painting the feeling
of a place.

I am Gonzalo Vargas Herrera, a front-end developer, graphic designer and artist. I started painting in 1997 and developed my visual language while exploring and drawing the streets, forms and architecture of Valparaíso, Chile.

Today, my work celebrates the beauty of Cape Town, where I have lived for seventeen years. I bring together vibrant colour, urban and natural landscapes, and imaginative shapes to create paintings that invite viewers to feel a place as much as see it.
